About Me
I’m Luka Mlinarič Fekonja, a passionate software developer based in Maribor, Slovenia, with a love for problem-solving and creating impactful solutions. My journey into IT began when I got my first computer as a child. Fascinated by the possibilities of technology, I knew early on that I wanted to explore its potential to improve lives.
This passion led me to attend the Secondary Electrical and Computer School Maribor, where I graduated with a high school diploma as a Computer Technician. I then pursued higher education at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (FERI) at the University of Maribor. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Informatics and Communication Technologies in 2022 and went on to complete a master’s degree in Informatics and Data Technologies in 2024.
During my master’s studies, I became a student tutor, helping peers enhance their programming skills and grasp complex concepts. Additionally, as a tutor with the Student Organization of the University of Maribor (ŠOUM), I organized events for students and provided general support and guidance to help them navigate their studies.
Throughout my academic journey and professional experience, I worked with a wide range of programming languages, but I’m most proficient with TypeScript and Python. I’ve encountered countless libraries and web frameworks, which never fail to fascinate me, and I strive to keep up with the latest advancements in these areas. Additionally, I have a strong interest in DevOps, particularly regarding scalability and the "under the hood" technologies that make the modern software systems run.
Currently, I work at Blocksi Inc., an ed-tech company dedicated to empowering schools with innovative content filtering, classroom management, and student safety tools. My previous experiences include developing internal tools at Comtrade Gaming, collaborating with Belgian and German clients on real-estate and banking projects at FlawlessCode, and gaining hands-on experience in device and computer repair at a local shop.
I’m a strong believer in simple, functional, and minimalistic solutions—qualities that are reflected in this website. My approach to development is thoughtful and structured. I begin by understanding the purpose and context of a task, visualizing its place in the bigger picture, and designing maintainable, scalable solutions. I enjoy collaborating with colleagues to refine ideas and take pride in seeing my work being used effectively by real people.
In a team, I’m valued for my perfectionism and strong attention to detail, which ensure high-quality results. While I’m a team player at heart, I’m also comfortable taking on leadership when necessary, helping to guide the team toward achieving remarkable outcomes. I thrive on good team spirit and take pride in empowering and supporting my colleagues, helping them grow and succeed alongside me.
Ever since childhood, I’ve been captivated by how technology can enhance lives. This fascination fuels my passion for crafting software that makes tasks simpler, faster, and more efficient.
Outside of work, I immerse myself in indie and AAA video games, and appreciate the strategy and creativity of trading card and board games. I enjoy spending quality time walking and playing with my dog, hanging out with friends, delving into fascinating discussions on Reddit, and exploring my passion for audio as an amateur audiophile. I also love listening to music across various genres and tuning into podcasts, which keep me inspired and informed on topics ranging from technology to personal curiosities.
